Temporary Change in Chlorination Process
(Super-chlorination)
The City of Pembroke
Pines will
temporarily change
its Water
chlorination process
commencing
February 11, 2013
by boosting Chlorine
with simultaneous
hydrant flushing.
This annual practice
is to comply with
the state of Florida
requirements and to
ensure the City’s
water supply is free
of hazardous
bacteria. Hydrant
flushing minimizes
the build up of
minerals and other
sediments that over
time can affect
water quality. It
also allows the
water department to
verify fire hydrants
are working properly
and available for
fire protection.
The process
ends 02/28/2013.
During that time,
the water may be
discolored, have an
odor, unusual taste
and there could be
reduction of water
pressure. For
