* All cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance.

* A 'no-show' occurs if a client fails to call and cancel service before a driver arrives at the pick up address. Three consecutive no-shows will lead to a one-week suspension of service.

* Clients wishing to discontinue their service simply need to inform the Transportation office.

* Individuals who call to be transported outside of the service area, whether or not they are registered, are generally referred to other transportation agencies that we know can assist them.

 

VEHICULAR ACCOMMODATIONS

The City provides the vehicles utilized in transporting riders. Vehicles range from 18-passenger buses to 15-passenger vans. For the comfort and safety of all clients, vehicles are equipped with A/C, seatbelts, and a 2-way radio. Sixty six (66%) percent of them are wheelchair accessible.

Eligibility

The ADA/Paratransit program, otherwise known as TOPS for transportation options, is administered in collaboration with Broward County. Eligibility is solely determined by Broward County, Paratransit Services Division. The program is geared towards individuals with physical, cognitive or visual disabilities who are functionally unable to use the fixed-route bus system. Under the TOPS program, the City of Pembroke Pines provides program trips only to qualifying individuals.

Registration Procedures

Individuals will initiate the registration process for the TOPS service by calling the County directly at 954-357-6794 to request an application form. Forms must be completed in full and returned to Broward County Paratransit Services Division. Upon acceptance into the program, clients will:

  1. Call the Pembroke Pines Transportation Division TOPS line 954-450-6883 with their assigned PIN to schedule transportation service. The Transportation office is responsible for verifying clients' eligibility with Broward County Paratransit Division.
  2. An attendance schedule will be established immediately and clients will be placed on the daily schedule for service.
  3. TOPS clients will need to register in person with the Information and Referral Specialist on or before their first day at the Center.
  4. Appropriate Transportation personnel will direct such clients to the Information and Referral Specialist as soon as they arrive at the Center.
  5. Clients in this program are required to sign a roster/schedule each time they ride.
