Citizens Fire Academy
The classes are designed to educate and inform the citizens of our
City about the Fire Department by use of lecture, demonstrations, and hands-on training. This allows members of the fire department and members of the community to meet, interact and get to know each other in a positive, proactive setting. We believe that the Citizen's Fire Academy program will ultimately assist
in the reduction of the fire insurance rates, by gaining greater community support. Community involvement is the most powerful, efficient and practical force any local agency has in the fight against fire. The program runs
six weeks. You should be in good physical condition to participate in this exciting educational program. To learn more about how you can participate in the next class call us at (954) 435-6700. Click here to view the registration form.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) classes are available to residents, groups, teachers and healthcare workers. As a community training center for the American Heart Association, our 20+ instructors are available to meet your needs. Registration and fee payment for CPR classes must be made in advance and in person at our Fire Department administrative offices' reception desk located at Fire Station #69, 9500 Pines Boulevard, Building B, Pembroke Pines, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Fire Prevention Week
Fire Prevention Week is held every year during the month of October. The seven-day campaign is filled with lots of exciting programs aimed at educating the public on fire safety. Activities sponsored center around a different theme each time. There is always something for everyone: poster contest, fire safety presentations, fire station tours, the Little Miss Flicker Beauty
For more information, call: (954) 435-6531
Open House
Each year during Emergency Medical Services Week in May the Fire Department has an open house at Fire Station 69. The public observes all facets of the station, gets to go inside the fire trucks, and meets the firefighters. Thousands of residents enjoy the many displays and exciting demonstrations. The
Pembroke Pines Fire Department recommends that residential smoke detectors be
changed twice a year. A good way to remember is when daylight savings time
begins in April and ends in October.
Firefighters bring Sparky the Fire Dalmatian and Sparky
the Robot to visit sick children hospitalized at the Joe DiMaggio Children’s
Hospital. Safety Town
Offered free, this pint-sized village where kids learn preschool/early childhood safety education through hands-on participation, is sponsored in conjunction with the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital at Memorial. Arranged field trips are conducted every Thursday. Lasting two hours, children wearing safety helmets and riding on tricycles rotate through five "safety stations" where they learn safety awareness and accident prevention skills.
