July 6, 2011

Pembroke Pines Fire Department currently has units on scene of a commercial structure fire at a Sir Speedy printing shop located at 17155 Pines Bv., Pembroke Pines.

The fire is out at this time, however crews remain on scene and a fire investigator is enroute.

This is an active scene and the following preliminary information is available at this time:

An early evening fire has blackened a Sir Speedy printing business in the 17100 block of Pines Bv.

Firefighters were dispatched to the business around 6:45 pm to investigate a fire alarm at the closed business. Prior to units arriving on scene, information was received from an off-duty Miramar firefighter who was outside the print shop and reported seeing
a light amount of inside.

Emergency units arriving a minute later discovered a blaze burning in the rear section of the business. The fire was quickly knocked down and extinguished, which prevented some highly flammable chemicals stored in the business from ignigting.

A Sedano's Supermarket directly adjacent to the Sir Speedy was temporarily evacuated while crews extinguished the fire.

An H&R Block office also adjacent to the printing business sustained minor smoke and water damage.

The damage to the contents of the Sir Speedy is described as "significant" and is estimated to be around $250,000.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
