Establishing New Utility Service

Pursuant to section 50.33 (Am. Ord. 1754, passed 6-19-13) of the City of Pembroke Pines Code of Ordinances, deposits required for new accounts for the use of city water and sewer facilities shall be $100 if an account is opened by a property owner and $300 if an account is opened jointly by a property owner and tenant, payable as follows: 

Owner:  Water and Sewer Deposit, $100.
Tenant:  Water and Sewer Deposit, $200.

The tenant will receive and be jointly liable for the monthly service invoice during their tenancy. The owner is fully responsible for all charges at the property until transferred to a new owner.

Procedures to Establish Utility Service In Office
Resident is required to complete, notarize, sign and print the Utility Service Application and must provide the following information: (click here for application)

  • Department of Housing and Urban Development Settlement Statement (HUD)
  • or signed lease
  • Driver's license or government-issued ID

Procedures to Establish Service Out of Town
Resident is required to complete, notarize, sign and print the Utility Service Application and mail it in with the appropriate documentation and security deposit as described above.

Customer Security Deposits
A security deposit is required of all customers. Interest is earned on the deposit and is credited to the utility account annually. All security deposits are held until an account is closed.

Establishing New Utility Service-Owner Account
New utility accounts can be opened in person at our Utility Office at The City of Pembroke Pines Public Services Department at 13975 Pembroke Rd, Pembroke Pines, Florida 33027. A security deposit is required to initiate service. All security deposits must be paid for by cash or check.
 

Required Security Deposit Amount:
        Owner Occupied Deposit: $100.00

Deposit Refund: Owner Account
Upon closing an owner’s account, the security deposit will be applied towards the final balance. If the final balance is a credit, a refund check will be issued. If the final balance exceeds the amount of the security deposit applied, then a final bill will be generated and is to be paid by the owner.

Establishing New Utility Service- Joint Owner/Tenant Account
New utility accounts can be opened in person at our Utility Office at The City of Pembroke Pines Public Services Department at 13975 Pembroke Rd, Pembroke Pines, Florida 33027. A security deposit is required to initiate service. All security deposits must be paid for by cash or check.
 

Required Security Deposit Amount:
      Joint Owner/Tenant Deposit: $300.00
       (Owner: $100.00 + Tenant: $200.00)

Deposit Refund: Joint Owner/Tenant Account
Upon closing a joint owner/tenant account, the security deposit will be applied towards   the final balance as follows: 

The tenant’s $200.00 portion will be applied first towards the final balance. 

  • If the final balance is less than $200.00, the tenant will receive a refund of the remaining portion of their $200.00 deposit. The owner will receive their deposit refund of $100.00 in full. 
  • If the final balance is between $200.00 – $300.00, the tenant’s $200.00 deposit will be applied to the final balance in full. The owner will receive a refund of the remaining portion of their $100.00 deposit. 
  • If the final balance exceeds $300.00, all deposits will be applied towards the final balance. A final bill will be generated. The tenant will receive the final bill to be paid. However, the owner is fully responsible for all outstanding charges before a new account can be established.
