Vice Mayor Jay Schwartz
District 2
Vice Mayor Jay Schwartz and his sister were born and raised by their single Mother in Philadelphia. Commissioner Schwartz moved to Pembroke Pines in 1989, and spent his college days living with his grandparents in the Park Place Condominium Community. He was the first in his family to attend college, having earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Barry University, and his post graduate Masters in Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University.

Vice Mayor Schwartz was elected to the Commission on January 31, 2012 and was appointed Vice Mayor in 2014. Prior to being elected, he served as Chair of the City's Economic Development Board, Chair of the Broward County Central Examining Board for General & Specialty Contractors, Chair of the Miramar/Pembroke Pines Regional Chamber of Commerce Business Development Committee, and served on the Chamber's Government Affairs Committee.

"The responsibility and trust you have given me I take very seriously,” said Vice Mayor Schwartz. “I want to be a great public servant. Your concerns are my concerns and I will work tirelessly through positive and bold action to bring you the leadership we deserve. My commitment to keeping you informed of the issues, the challenges, the success, and the overall state of our district and City is paramount. It is my desire to bring our community closer together so that we may benefit from increased property values, neighborhood revitalization and beautification, crime watch, enhanced youth programs, better communication and responsiveness from government services, and economic development and growth to allow balance between the needs of residents and the business community."
