Firefighter Hose Stream Training

During the month of June, firefighters will be training on the use of hose streams. Depending on the size and nature of a fire, the proper selection and deployment of an effective hose stream is essential for a rapid extinguishment. This month, firefighters will be reviewing the use of elevated, ground, and master streams.

Bleeding & Shock EMS Training

During the month of June, firefighters are also training on basic trauma care including bleeding and shock. Trauma is the leading cause of death for persons age 1 - 44 and crews will be reviewing a variety of trauma-related emergencies with a focus on the methods to control and treat bleeding and shock. Also included will be the use of tourniquets and shock management.

18th Annual First There First Care Conference

The 18th Annual "First There First Care" Conference and Chief Mike Haygood Broward Invitational ALS/BLS Competition was held on May 22 & 23. Sixteen teams from across Broward, Dade and Palm Beach Counties competed in this year's event. Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue's ALS team finished in first place. Congratulations to the ALS Competition Team members Captain Scott Gunn, Lieutenant Rolando Hernandez, and Lieutenant Ernest Spreitzer for their continued efforts and success.
