The City of Pembroke Pines oversees the 450 acre wetland that was established in the 1990’s. The wetlands have become home to 120 species of birds, deer, marsh rabbits, alligators, snakes, turtles, largemouth bass and insects. The wetlands are a natural habitat that are important in South Florida, which depends on the marshy areas to absorb and clean water as it seeps into the water supply in the Biscayne Aquifer.
Boardwalk: 1650 ft. The Preserve is regularly visited by Audubon members, bird watchers and environmentalists.
Open: Monday through Sunday 7:30am – Dusk
Environmental / Interpretative Center: Schools and colleges will use the facility as an educational resource. The Environmental Interpretative Center will receive visits from school children on field trips to observe and learn first-hand the wonders of Florida’s habitat.
