WHAT IS THE POLICE
ATHLETIC LEAGUE?
The Pembroke Pines Police Athletic League (PAL) is a recreational and
educational oriented juvenile crime prevention program. PAL relies
heavily on athletics and educational activities to create better
relations between police officers and the youth of our community.
PAL brings the youth of our community under the supervision and positive
influence of Law Enforcement Officers of the Pembroke Pines Police
Department and expands public awareness about the role of a police
officer.
Although PAL targets at-risk kids, PAL is for every child in the
community. All children face peer pressure at one time or another. PAL
helps the youth by providing them with positive alternatives and a sense
of belonging. Athletics is the draw but education and training are the
priority. The youth need positive alternatives to say no to the negative
pressures they face every day.
PAL is a cooperative effort of the City of Pembroke Pines, Pembroke
Pines Police Department, business, and community leaders. PAL is a
501-C3 organization. PAL is not funded by tax dollars, but by grants,
fundraisers, and donations. These donations enable our community youth
to participate in police supervised activities.
Our PAL Youth Center is located at 7900 Johnson Street, and is home to
our year round programs. We have expanded our programs from basketball
and Tae Kwon Do to a youth leadership program, summer camp, wrestling
and boxing. In May of 2000 we cut the ribbon to the PAL/Ronald McDonald
Computer Learning Center where the youth have access to computer
classes. A generous donation from Bill Mitchell of Ricky's Restaurant
funded the construction of our own basketball court. Click here to

For additional information on our athletic and educational programs,
please contact the PAL office at 954- 986-5044. To register for PAL you
must be a Pembroke Pines resident or attend a school located in Pembroke
Pines. The yearly membership fee is $35.00. Join now!
