Answer: The
crime analyst reads thousand of crime reports, calls for
service, arrest reports, and notices from other agencies
each year. The crime analyst gathers and summarizes useful
information, pulls out relevant facts, networks with other
crime analysis units in the region, and interprets their
meaning. Once crime patterns and trends are identified, the
Crime Analysis Unit disseminates the information to the rest
of the department.
The Patrol and Investigative Divisions use this information
to develop strategies to address any emerging or ongoing
crime problems within the city.
The Pembroke Pines Crime Analysis Unit is staffed by a Crime
Analyst and an Assistant Crime Analyst. The Crime Analysts
report directly to the Support Services Division Sergeant.
