I
have been honored by you in the January 2008 election,
to serve as your Commissioner for District 2 in Pembroke
Pines. Our district, in the northeast corner of the
city, is the second oldest part of our city and includes
one of the newest areas (Walnut Creek) and one of the
oldest (Sunswept). The eastern border is roughly 72nd
Avenue in the east and part of Flamingo Road in the
west, but it also includes the townhome areas west of C.
B. Smith Park all the way to NW 142nd Avenue, south of
Johnson Street. On the north, the boundary is Sheridan
Street west to Flamingo Road, while on the south it is
Johnson or Pines Boulevard, depending on where you are.
District boundaries are not easy to square off, as they
are determined by trying to equalize the populations in
each.
I am here to represent you and your best interests
because you are the city. I need your input and thoughts
to make the system work. We may not always agree but
together we will find a way to solve our common
problems.
My family and I have lived in the Pines since 1969 and
have raised our boys to adulthood here. At the same time
watching our city grow from a small village to the
second largest city in Broward and becoming an All
American city in the process. I have served on many city
boards and two terms on the Commission in the 70s and
early 80s which gives me the advantage of insight as I
embark on another term in the troubled times of the new
century. I truly believe that, given the melting pot
diversity we now have in Pembroke Pines, together, we
shall meet the fiscal and physical challenges that face
us. Together, this city, born in a time of hope in 1960,
will fulfill the dream of becoming the best place to
live and work in the state of Florida. I want to leave
our children and grandchildren a city they can proudly
call home and tell people they meet, "I'm from from
Pembroke Pines!".
Jack
McCluskey,
Commissioner
City of Pembroke Pines,
District #2
