It is an honor to have been elected as your City
Commissioner of District 2 on January 31, 2012. I have
been a proud resident of this fine City for over 20
years. Prior to being elected, I served as Chair of the
City's Economic Development Board, Chair of the Broward
County Central Examining Board for General & Specialty
Contractors, Chair of the Miramar/Pembroke Pines
Regional Chamber of Commerce Business Development
Committee, and served on the Chamber's Government
Affairs Committee.
District 2 is located in the Northeastern portion of our
City. Our population for the district is a little more
than 40,000 residents. Our District is generally located
east of Flamingo Road, South of Sheridan Street, North
of Johnson Street, and our eastern most boundary borders
the City of Hollywood east of Walnut Creek.
Portions of District 2 are more than 40 years old. City
Hall once stood where Ben Forendino Park is located
along Taft Street just west of Palm Avenue. The City
golf course, Pembroke Lakes Golf and Country Club, is
the crown jewel of our City and ranks as one of the Top
100 golf courses in Florida.
The responsibility and trust you have given me I take
very seriously. I want to be a public servant, not a
politician. Your concerns are my concerns and I will
work tirelessly through positive and bold action to
bring you the leadership we deserve. My commitment to
keeping you informed of the issues, the challenges, the
success, and the overall state of our district and City
is paramount.
It is my desire to bring our community closer together
so that we may benefit from increased property values,
neighborhood revitalization and beautification, crime
watch, enhanced youth programs, better communication and
responsiveness from government services, and economic
development and growth to allow balance between the
needs of residents and the business community.
I encourage you to sign up for my Commissioner's Corner
electronic newsletter, reach out to me as often as you
like via telephone or email, and together we can make
our future brighter.
Best Regards,
Jay Schwartz,
Commissioner
City of Pembroke Pines,
District #2
