GARBAGE & BULK TRASH
COLLECTION RULES

                      To avoid problems with your curbside collection service,

follow these simple rules:

       GARBAGE COLLECTION:

·        Place all items for collection at curbside before 7:00 a.m. in a neat, efficient and orderly manner.

·        All garbage and small or loose items must be containerized in garbage cans or tied plastic bags and weigh less than 40 pounds each.  (Loose items will not be collected).  Items should never extend above the rim by more than a few inches.

·        Garbage cans must be 32-gallon size or smaller, equipped with handles and capable of holding items placed in them.

·        The number of garbage cans or bags is unlimited.

·        DO NOT USE paper bags, cardboard boxes, recycling bins or oil drums as garbage containers; Items will not be collected.

·        Cardboard boxes must be flattened and securely tied to be acceptable for collection.

·        Hypodermic needles, syringes and other like materials must be placed in a sealed, hard plastic container before going in the garbage.

·        Securely tie trash such as trimmings, wood tree branches, horticultural materials, carpet, etc. in bundles not to exceed five feet in any direction and 40 pounds in weight.  Properly cut and bundled yard waste will be collected with regular garbage collection.

PLACE ALL LOOSE ITEMS IN CONTAINERS

BULK TRASH COLLECTION:

·        Bulk will be picked up on your 2nd garbage collection day (Thurs., Fri. or Sat.) each week & on (4) pre-scheduled quarterly bulk pick up dates.

·        Bulk items are household items such as couches, chairs, mattresses, tables, appliances, carpeting, large tree limbs, lumber, etc.

·        Refrigerators, air conditioners & appliances containing freon will be collected on (4) pre-scheduled quarterly bulk pick-up dates.

·        All items for collection should be placed on the curb by 7:00 a.m. of the scheduled date of pick-up.

·        Trimmings, tree branches, lumber, carpet and metal poles must be cut into sections not to exceed 5 feet and tied into bundles of 40 pounds or less. 

·        Rugs, carpet, padding, fencing and materials of this nature must be rolled and securely tied.

·        The number of bulk items is unlimited.

·        Unacceptable items (see list on reverse side) will not be moved in order to collect acceptable items.

·        Bulk items of a disorderly or hazardous nature will not be collected.

·        Do not place bulk items for collection next to a mailbox, utility pole or close to a fence.

MATERIALS NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR DISPOSAL

The following items are unacceptable for collection due to health, regulatory and safety reasons and will not be picked up by the hauler.

The owner is responsible for the legal disposal of these items:

·        Construction, remodeling or demolition debris including all concrete materials and bricks or brickwork.

·        Automobile bodies, engines, transmissions, batteries or other parts.

·        Horticulture materials from commercial lawn/yard service or other commercial operations.

·        Loose items, unbundled trimmings, tree branches, lumber, etc.

·        Oil, paints, insecticides, chemicals or other hazardous waste.

                          RECYCLING

                        RECYCLING RULES:

·        Place recycling materials curbside before 7:00 a.m. for collection.

·        Items acceptable for collection include newspapers with inserts, corrugated cardboard, metal cans, brown, green or uncolored glass containers, plastic containers 1, 2, and 3, milk and juice containers.

·        All corrugated cardboard must be broken down, folded or cut into the same size as newspapers, or included with newspapers.

·        All recyclable items other than newspapers and corrugated cardboard can now be mixed in the bins provided.

·        Materials in the bins must be rinsed out.  Plastic bottles must have lids removed.

·        Newspapers must either be placed into a brown paper bag, tied, or placed in a recycling bin.  Remove plastic or packaging material.

·        If newspaper is placed out on a rainy day, use a garbage can lid or another protective cover.  Wet newspaper will not be collected.

·        DO NOT put any other items in the bins that are not specified as part of your recycling program.

·        You can place out bins even if they are half full.
