Mask Making and Kente Cloth Making for Kids

Saturday, June 15, 2019

Together with their caretakers, kids discover the artistic traditions of African cultures and learn fun crafting techniques with everyday art materials! Construct striking masks and weave hand-painted textiles inspired by richly colored Ghanaian kente cloth, made famous by the historically gifted Asante and Ewe weavers! Children will learn about the legacy of silken Kente cloth, which was associated with Ashanti royalty during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. This event is free to the public. All materials provided. No prior experience required. Ages: 6yrs+
