Summer Exhibition Series


Pembroke Pines, FL (May 21, 2025) -- This summer, The Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery presents three captivating exhibitions that merge science, ancestral knowledge, and poetic expression into an unforgettable sensory experience. Audiences are invited to the Opening Reception on Thursday, June 26, from 6:00 – 9:00 PM, a festive, free event featuring artist meet-and-greets, refreshments, and access to all three exhibitions at The Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery, located at 601 City Center Way.

Exhibition Details

The 2025 Summer Exhibition Series features new works by Dr. Sara C. Schesser Bartra (Hidden Worlds), Magda Love (Let It Be Light), and Angela Bolaños (Echoes of Memory and Nature), each transforming the gallery into a space of wonder, renewal, and deep connection.

Featured Exhibitions

HIDDEN WORLDS (Front Gallery) By Dr. Sara C. Schesser Bartra

Visitors will explore the microscopic universe that lies within and around us. In this interactive exhibition, artist-scientist Dr. Sara Bartra brings the world of microbes to life through hands-on art installations, video, and mixed media. Designed to engage all ages, Hidden Worlds transforms complex biology into an imaginative adventure rooted in ecology, health, and the science of the unseen.

Artist Activation -- Frank Studio: Free Bacteria-Inspired Mixed Media Workshop with Sara Bartra

Saturday, July 19 | 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM  There will be hands-on art + science experience for all ages. 

LET IT BE LIGHT (Main Gallery) By Magda Love

A celebration of nature, ancestry, and emotional healing through recycled materials and luminous palettes, in Let It Be Light, Argentine American artist Magda Love explores the dualities of light and shadow, joy and resilience, drawing from personal and cultural memory to create a radiant landscape of hope.

Saturday, September 27 | 6:00 – 8:00 PM This is a free workshop and exhibition walkthrough.

ECHOES OF MEMORY AND NATURE (Lobby & Third Space Gallery) By Angela Bolaños

Through textiles, soundscapes, and cascading fabrics, artist Angela Bolaños invites visitors into a sensory landscape of memory, identity, and the elements. This site-specific installation includes two major works: Woven Circlescapes and When the Rain Speaks, honoring Central American textile traditions, diasporic stories, and the quiet rituals of nature.

Artist Activation -- Frank Studio: Free Embroidery on Paper Workshop + Artist Demonstration with Angela Bolaños on Saturday, June 28 | 5:00 – 7:00 PM  Participants can create embroidered artworks reflecting personal memory -- all materials provided.
