Pembroke Pines, FL…May 4, 2017… The City of Pembroke Pines Recreation and Cultural Arts Department invites the community to enjoy a free and fun filled weekend for people of all ages. On May 20, 2017, take part in the Mayor’s Second Annual Chess Challenge and/or enjoy activities during the Seventh Annual National Kids to Parks Day. Jazz In the Pines, a community concert takes place on May 21, 2017. Seventh Annual National Kids to Parks Day / May 20, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Mayor’s Second Annual Chess Challenge / May 20, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Free event at the Pembroke Lakes Club 19 Restaurant, 10500 Taft Street, for players of all ages and skills. Guests will enjoy playing chess with Pembroke Pines Mayor Frank C. Ortis and City Commissioners, and officials from Broward County in support of Scholastic Chess. Jazz In the Pines Free Concert
The final Free Jazz concert before the summer break will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the William B. Armstrong Dream Park located at 1700 NW 160 Avenue (Dykes Road). Concerts will resume in September. Enjoy great music while relaxing at this beautiful Pembroke Pines park. For maximum comfort, bring a blanket and chair. No pets please.
