“We established the Thanksgiving Food Drive because families in our community need help. This year we have a list of one hundred families who need help. If it wasn’t for the generosity, commitment and dedication of our local schools, businesses, clubs/organizations and residents Thanksgiving would be just another day, with a minimal meal,” said Jay Shechter, Director of Community Services and Housing for the City of Pembroke Pines.

Over the past fourteen years, the Community Services Department has provided a Thanksgiving Meal with all the fixings to over 1,100 families. Year-round donations of nonperishable food items are accepted and then distributed to those in need.
