Pembroke Pines, FL... October 3, 2017…The Fourteenth Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive organized by the Community Services staff at the City of Pembroke Pines Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Community Center is underway. 

Please deliver donations of nonperishable canned and/or boxed foods, grocery store gift cards, cash or checks (made payable to City of Pembroke Pines) to The Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Community Center Campus located at 301 NW 103 Avenue in Pembroke Pines, FL  33026.  Donations will be accepted Monday through Friday beginning at 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Monday and Friday, and until 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Please drop off donations prior to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2017. “We established the Thanksgiving Food Drive because families in our community need help. If it wasn’t for the generosity, commitment and dedication of our local schools, businesses, clubs/organizations and residents Thanksgiving would be just another day,” said Jay Shechter, Director of Community Services and Housing for the City of Pembroke Pines.  

Over the past fourteen years, the Community Services Department has provided a Thanksgiving Meal with all the fixings to over 1,100 families. Year-round donations of nonperishable food items are accepted and then distributed to those in need.
