Hundreds Enjoyed Free Health Screenings at the
Twenty-Second Annual Health Fair and Education Fair
Sponsored by the City of Pembroke Pines Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Community Center Campus
Pembroke Pines, FL…November 2, 2017…Over 200 people attended the 22nd Annual Commitment to the Community Health and Education Fair, sponsored by the City of Pembroke Pines Community Services Department. The event was held at the Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Community Center Campus.
Attendees took advantage of the many health screenings offered and received the latest information regarding changes in Healthcare and Medicare. Breakfast, raffles, music, lunch and free give-a-ways from various healthcare exhibitors were appreciated by all attending. Baptist Health of South Florida screened for bone density, glucose and cholesterol. Employees of the Pembroke Pines Police and Fire Departments offered safety tips and Easter Seals South Florida performed mini-mental memory testing. In addition to the free health screenings and educational information handed out, attendees could observe and participate in exercise class demonstrations such as Laughter Yoga, Salsa dance lesson and Silver Sneakers.
The following sponsors underwrote the events food and entertainment: Chen Medical, Allegiance Senior Consultants, Vitas, Vanguard Medical, Caremax Medical, Coventry Health Care, Edward Jones, Memorial Healthcare, and Costco. Trustbridge sponsored the musical entertainment.
“Every year our Health and Education Fair goal remains the same, to provide attendees access to the latest healthcare information and offer screenings to help our residents have a greater awareness about their health. Year round classes and special events are held at the Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Community Center Campus located at 301 N.W. 103rd Avenue in Pembroke Pines, 33026. Classes, workshops, activities and events are held during the weekday and evening for members 18 years and older and membership is free. Many of the special events are free, although some require a fee and advanced registration.
