Search Begins for "Blooms of Kindness"

Pembroke Pines, FL  (February 19, 2019) – Pembroke Pines residents are encouraged to begin their hunt for “Blooms of Kindness,” a community project created by the “Artists in Action” pottery students at the Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Community Center in Pembroke Pines.  This is a citywide scavenger hunt project to promote positivity and kindness throughout the community, sparked by National Random Acts of Kindness Day which was held on Sunday, February 17, 2019.

The pottery students and staff of the Center created colorful handcrafted ceramic “blooms” that have been hidden around the City of Pembroke Pines in public places for anyone to find. When a bloom is discovered, the finder is encouraged to take a picture of it, report where it was found and then post the photo and/or information on the project’s Facebook page, “Artists in Action Blooms of Kindness Project,” so everyone can follow the journey of each found bloom.  Residents can keep the bloom, give it to someone who really needs it, or re-hide the bloom in a new location.

“The goal is to bring a smile to someone’s face and hopefully brighten their day,” said Helen Daniels, Recreation Division Supervisor for the Center.  “The world can always use a little more kindness.”
