It’s time to test checkmate skills in The Mayor’s Annual Chess Challenge in Pembroke Pines, being held on Saturday, May 10 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Pembroke Lakes Golf Club 19, located at 10500 Taft Street. This chess challenge, held throughout Broward County, is part of a free and friendly series of chess meet-ups in 19 different cities to draw attention to the benefits of chess in both the academic environment and throughout the community.
Chess players of all ages, novices and experts alike are welcome to play chess with elected officials, community leaders, and other players at this traveling challenge. Instructors are on hand to help those new to the game. More than 100 boys and girls of all ages have attended the Mayor’s Chess Challenge in Pembroke Pines in previous years.
