When and where do I file for Homestead Exemption?: The timely filing deadline for Homestead Exemption was March 1, 2013. The absolute deadline to LATE FILE for any 2013 exemption (if you missed the March 1, 2013 timely filing deadline) is September 18, 2013. State law (Sec. 196.011(8), Fla. Stat.) does not allow late filing for exemptions after this date, regardless of any good reason for missing the late filing deadline. You can file your Homestead Exemption online at www.bcpa.net or at the Broward County Property Appraiser office (BCPA) located at 115 South Andrews Avenue, Room 111, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301. 1. Where can I apply for the home repair or purchase assistance grant?: Please contact Community Redevelopment Association (CRA) at 954-431-7866. 2. I was notified by my bank that my check was returned, what should I do?: The City normally would receive the bank’s notification 5 business days after you are notified. The City would not be able to process any document without the bank’s notification. Once the City receives the notification, the City would notify you on how to pay for the returned check.

3. Can I pay with a credit or debit card?: Yes, there are over 20 locations throughout the City that accepts credit or debit card. However, a 2.6% convenience fee of the total paid by credit or debit card is assessed by the electronic processing company. No part of the convenience fee goes to the City. Therefore, the convenience fee for credit or debit cards is non-refundable.

4. Can I pay my bills over the phone or the internet?: Currently, only the Utility bills can be paid over the phone at 1-877-261-7681. Utility bills and Local Business Tax can be paid via the Internet at www.ppines.com.

5. Why did I receive a bill for Fire Inspection Fees?: Effective October 1, 2007, the City passed a new inspection fees through City Ordinance 1590, Section 150.32. For a copy of City Ordinance 1590, Section 150.32 and the Fee Schedule visit our website at http://www.ppines.com/fire/inspection-fees.html. 6. I received my property tax bills, how come my property value has went up?: Broward County Property Appraiser office (BCPA) assesses the value of your property. Please contact BCPA at 954-357-6830 or visit them online at www.bcpa.net.
