1. Can I speak at a commission meeting?

Yes. All regular City Commission meetings and public hearings (other than special meetings and workshops) provide time for the public to express their views concerning items on the agenda. Just fill out a request to speak form and turn it in to the City clerk prior to the start of the meeting.

2. May I speak on an agenda item?

Yes, just raise your hand when the mayor asks for public comment on the item. If the item is on the consent agenda, raise your hand and ask that it be pulled for discussion.

3. How many people make up the Commission?

The Mayor is elected at large, serves for four years, and presides over Commission meetings. There are four Commissioners, each elected from a single geographic District. They serve for four years with only two District seats coming up for election every two years.

4. How can I get in touch with my Commissioner?

The Mayor and Commissioners can be reached via email, the phone, at City Hall, and at Commission meetings.

5. What does the Commission do?

The City Commission represents the public interest, promotes prompt, courteous responses to citizen problems and concerns, provides clear leadership and direction, and assures the present and future fiscal integrity of the City.

6. How often does the Commission meet?

The Commission meets twice a month, except for the month of July
when there are no meetings.
