Captain Jennifer Schmidt has proudly served the City of Pembroke Pines since graduating from the 268th session of the Broward County Police Academy in 2009 where she was nominated as Class President. Prior to joining the Pembroke Pines Police Department, Captain Schmidt attended Coastal Carolina University on a NCAA Division I athletic scholarship where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies emphasizing Public Relations and a Minor in Journalism. Currently, she’s attending the University of Florida in pursuit of a Master’s Degree in Management.
Captain Schmidt has served as a Patrol Officer, Field Force Officer, General Crimes Detective, a Homeland Security Team Leader and a member of the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF). In 2017, she was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. While in this capacity, she served as a Patrol Sergeant and an Internal Affairs Sergeant. Captain Schmidt has completed hundreds of hours in specialized training and leadership courses to include the 1st session of the Public Safety Leadership Academy at Broward College. In 2022, she was subsequently promoted to the rank of Captain, making her the third female command staff member in the history of the Pembroke Pines Police Department.
Captain Schmidt has received numerous commendations and awards during her tenure to include a Community Hero award in 2017.
