
The Pembroke Pines Police Honor Guard is composed of volunteer officers from within the agency who represent the department during prestigious and ceremonial events. Honor Guard is designed to provide the department with a well-trained ceremonial unit to render honors, preserve tradition, stimulate esprit de corps, and instill pride.
Founding
The Honor Guard was originally founded to provide funeral honors for the department's employees, retirees, and duty-related deaths of law enforcement officers throughout the area. The role of the Honor Guard has further expanded to include both governmental and civic ceremonies and special events.
Tasks
Honor Guard members are trained to be proficient in numerous tasks including:
- Casket bearing
- Casket guard
- Ceremonial firing
- Changing of the guard
- Drill and ceremony
